The home setting is preferable to a hospital for many patients because it is familiar; the patient is surrounded by friends and family, and is separated from the infections that are common in a hospital setting. In addition, it is generally less expensive to treat in the home rather than in a hospital setting. We offer comprehensive, compassionate care to ease the transition from the hospital to the home.

Does the patient have to order refills when they are low on meds and supplies, or does the pharmacy do this?
CuraScript IP pharmacies maintain refill schedules that notify the pharmacy of when or if you are due for more medication or supplies. In most cases, our staff will call you several days before your next delivery is needed. We will check to see how you are doing with your therapy, determine which supplies you need, and arrange for the next delivery. If the patient sees the doctor and the prescription changes, the patient should follow up with the pharmacy to be sure that the doctor’s orders were received by the pharmacy.
Does CuraScript provide oxygen or physical therapy?
We do not provide oxygen or physical therapy, but we will coordinate your oxygen and physical therapy care.
Will someone come to my home to teach me how my therapy works?
We will schedule a licensed nurse to visit your home. In addition, the nurse will perform a physical assessment and teach you how to access and maintain your IV line and/or instruct you on how to administer your medication. Nurses continue to see patients as needed throughout the course of care. The frequency of nursing visits depends on the type of therapy and the patient’s home situation. It is past my local infusion center’s regular business hours and my pump has a problem. What do I do?
A CuraScript IP pharmacist or nurse is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Clinicians receive extensive training on all medical devices. In the event that a medical device problem cannot be resolved on the phone, a replacement device will be delivered to your home.
If I have a question about my insurance while I’m a patient with CuraScript IP, who do I call?
You can contact your local CuraScript IP pharmacy and they will provide you with information concerning your insurance coverage.
Can CuraScript IP help me with meds and supplies if I am on vacation?
With appropriate notification, your pharmacy can usually service your travel needs. Let us know about your vacation plans as soon as possible. We will work with you to decide whether it is best to send the medications with you, ship them to you, or arrange with a pharmacy in the area where you will be vacationing to provide the medications. We will work with you and your doctor to be sure that you have the care you need, including home nursing services, while on vacation.
If my IV line gets clogged, do I call the pharmacy or my nurse?
We offer 24 hour a day, 7 days a week clinical support for therapy related issues. Trained clinicians will help guide you through your IV line problems. If the problems cannot be resolved on the phone, a skilled clinician will come to the home to assess the situation and will also communicate with the physician about the best course of action.
