CuraScript has been in the specialty pharmaceutical business since our inception in 1989. Between 1994 and Aug. 1, 2000, the company operated as Coram Prescription Services (CPS), a division of Coram Healthcare Corporation.

Recognizing the success of creating value for our clients, the Management Team, in partnership with GTCR Golder Rauner, LLC, led a management buyout of Coram Prescription Services, which was concluded on Aug. 1, 2000. The company was renamed CuraScript — “Cura” is the Latin word meaning “care”—which reflects our mission of caring for our patients.

On Dec. 22, 2003, Express Scripts (ESRX), one of the nation’s leading Pharmacy Benefit Managers, announced it had signed a definitive agreement to acquire the capital stock of CuraScript Pharmacy, Inc. and CuraScript PBM Services, Inc. The transaction closed during the first quarter of 2004.

In October 2005, Express Scripts completed the acquisition of Priority Healthcare Corporation to create one of the largest specialty pharmaceutical dispensing and distribution companies in the United States. Priority Healthcare was the recognized industry leader in specialty dispensing and distribution for multiple markets. Due to the capabilities and increased resources of the combined entities, CuraScript is strategically positioned to create customized programs, staffed with dedicated experts, that will grow our pharmaceutical manufacturer’s business while remaining 100% committed to exceptional patient care.
